VALIDITY OF THE TRADEMARK REGISTRY

In Costa Rica, the trademark registry is granted for ten years as of the register date. It may be renewable indefinitely for ten year terms, prior payment of the established renewal fees.

The validity of the registration of trade names is indefinite. There are no maintenance rates for the validity of the registration of the trade name.  

The protection of advertisement signs is indefinite since the concession date. There are no maintenance rates for the validity of the registration of the advertisement sign. However, the validity of those advertisement signs that are referred to a trademark or commercial name is subject to the validity of such trademark or commercial name.
